within and for said County [illegible] personally appeared [illegible] who being by me duly sworn deposes and says that he was Captain [illegible] Co. K 20th Regiment [illegible] during the late war that he well knew Richard Oliver. who [was a?] Private in Co. K of the 20th Regiment of U.S.C. troops.
That ^while in the service and in the line ofhis [sic] duty as a soldier on board of [Steamship Northern Light?] on his way from New Orleans to New York City, K [began?] Discharge & he died of [illegible] fever contracted while in the said service.
Deponent further swears that he is not interested in any claim of any heirs of said deceased soldier for County back pay or Pension.
