It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office, that Richard Oliver was enrolled on the 30 day of Dec., 1863, at 13th [?] N.Y. in Co. "K," 20 Regiment of U.S.C.T. Volunteers, to serve three years, or during the war, and mustered into service as a [Private?] on the 4 day of July 1864, at [Rich???] in Co. "K." 20 Regiment of U.S.C.T Volunteers, to serve two years, or during the war. On the Muster ^Dec. 1 Roll of Co. K of that Regiment, for the months of [d??ed] New Orleans [La?] Oct 4th 1865, he is reported present and mustered out with Co.- with the [?] "t Discharge given Oct 7, 1865 with [new?] [?] payment without [withdrawing?] to State. [A?] letter you viewed at this office, Dec 26, 1866, from [Normin R. Martin?] late Capet of Co. "K" 20th U.S.C.T. [?] the Duchary [Califialu?] of a number of [contiel??] men of his Co. each died while [on travel?] from New Orleans La. to New York- Official copy of letter will [?] Capt. Martin [?] to letter La been compared with his Official signature a file ni [sic] this office and is believed to be genuine. R. Oliver's Discharge Cart. now sent to the Second Auditor July 3, 1864.
