Sir,

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 161.1165, and to return it herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this Office.

It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office, that Richard Oliver was enrolled on the 30 day of Dec., 1863, at 13th [??4] N.Y. in Co. "K," 20 Regiment of U.S.C.T. Volunteers, to serve three years, or during the war, and mustered into service as a Private on the 4 day of July 1864, at [Rick?? ?ela?] NY. st. in Co. "K." 20th Regiment of U.S.C.T Volunteers, to serve three years, or during the war. On the Muster ^Dec. 1 Roll of Co. K of that Regiment, for the months of dated, New Orleans La, Oct 4th 1865, he is reported present and mustered out with Co.- with the rimark [sic] "t Discharge given Oct 7, 1865 with view to payment without returning to State." A letter you viewed at this office, Dec 26, 1866 [underlined], from Norman R. Martin late Capet of Co. "K" 20th U.S.C.T. to admitting the Duchary [Certified?] of a number of [co?lieli?] men of his Co. eahc [sic] died while en-route from New Orleans La. to New York- Official copy of letter delivered Capt. Martin's signature to letter ha [sic] been compared with his Official signature acc. file ni [sic] this office and is believed to be genuine. R. Oliver's Discharge Cert. was sent to the Second Auditor July 3, 1864.
