Free and Independent To all to whom these presents shall come or
may concern send greeting Know Ye that at Poughkeepsie ni [sic]
Dutchess County on the nineteenth day of April in the year
of our lord one thousand eight hundred and nine before
James Tallmadge Jun. Esquire Surrogate of our said Coun
ty the last will and testament of David Johnston deceased
(a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now
approved and allowed of by us And the said deceased ha
ving whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods
chattles [sic] or credits written this state By means whereof the pro
ving and registering the said will and the granting Admin
istration of all and singular the said goods chattles [sic] and Credits
And also the auditing allowing and final dis chargeing [sic]
the accounts thereof doth belong unto us the Administration
of all and singular the goods chattles [sic] and credits of the
said deceased and any way concerning his will is gran
ted unto John Johnston David Jameson Johnston an Je
cole Johnston the executors ni [sic] the said will named they
being first duly sworn well and faithfully to adminis
ter the same And to make and exhibit a true and perfect
inventory of all and singular the said goods chattles [sic] and
credits And also to render a just and true account thereof
when thereunto required. In testimony whereof We have
caused the seal of office of our said surrogate to he here
unto affixed Witness James Tallmadge Junr Esquire
Surrogate of our said County at Poughkeepsie the
